The fascinating and turbulent period of Perestroika in Russia has found its chronographer in the face of artist Andrey Pashkevich. Working both in cinematography and painting, Moscow-native Pashkevich carried his impressions of the vital shifts in society and politics through his series Politecology. The artist, who passed away in 2011, was a contemporary of film directors such as Nikita Mihalkov and Andrey Konchalovski, and managed to capture vivid metaphors and emotions using nearly cinematic imagery. His paintings found their way into an exhibition in Antwerp and private collections in the United States, Portugal, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain and India. Now the Politecology series is exhibited in Sofia too with the assistance of the Embassy of Belgium.
