WELLKY: THE LIFE-SAVING REMOTE CARE

We all want our elderly relatives and loved ones to be healthy and feeling well. But sometimes we are too far away or too busy to take care of them in person. We don't always have the time to react in the event of an accident and we might find out about it too late. Fortunately, this problem can now be solved with the help of Wellky, a sophisticated combination of services that enables remote care and alerts for any danger that might occur. The service combines a smart bracelet that monitors health indicators, a software application, and a help centre, and its creator Stanislav Radoslavov defines it as a health security system that signalises in case of a problem.

How was the idea for Wellky born?

It was born out of real life. A year and a half ago my mother suffered a fall, while I was abroad. For twelve hours I wasn’t able to connect to her and I had no idea of what had happened. When I found her in a helpless condition, I promised myself not to let that happen again. Then I started searching for options and this is how the idea of Wellky came to life – it can be described as a kind of health security system. With no intervention by the elderly person to be made, the smart bracelet measures health indicators, transmits information to the software and alerts the provided contact people in case it detects a problem.

What does the service include?

The service has three elements. First, it is the smart bracelet – a device that doesn’t require any effort or technical competence of the users, they just have to wear it on their wrist. It measures health metrics and tracks deviations from the norm, which is defined in advance and is different for every user. The device detects the location of the user with an accuracy of 5 metres, and in case of a fall, it signals the specified emergency numbers. Usually, these are the phones of a close relative and a neighbour who can react if necessary.

This happens with the help of software, which processes the information received by the bracelet. Through the app, you can check the condition of your elderly relative anytime.

We also have a help centre, which provides diverse technical support. It can be related to the setting of individual health indicators, providing instructions on how to use the app, as well as organising a physical visit by a social or healthcare assistant. We work very successfully with a precisely selected network of partners, supplying this kind of service, and each visit is registered in the app so that you know what is happening at any moment.

How does Wellky outstand the existing smart bracelets and health applications on the market?

Our service is better integrated and provides more options. The bracelet is user friendly, health metrics are personalised. If the device is not active, the call centre staff calls the elderly people to address the issue. In the event of an incident, the bracelet calls the phone numbers listed until there is an answer from at least one of the contacts. For more than 6 months we have been doing tests with a dozen of seniors. One of the women fell and literally saved her life because the bracelet immediately alerted us and we were able to send an ambulance in time.
