Acronis celebrated the Day of Bulgarian Alphabet and Education by donating books to elementary school, in partnership with Ciela bookstore
Every year, Acronis donates 100 books to a different Bulgarian school to celebrate 24 May, the Day of Bulgarian alphabet and education. This year, the donation of 100+ books will be received by the Hristo Botev elementary school in the village of Krespost, located in the Dimitrovgrad municipality in southern Bulgaria. This is Acronis's third annual donation of 100 books to a Bulgarian school, creating a tradition that will follow for years to come.
“Schools, like people, have their own biography,” said Tatyana Todorova, principal of Hristo Botev elementary school. “Human existence is limited in time, but the life of an educational institution is measured in centuries. So in essence, biographies become a part of history, a history of the land, the settlement, and generations of the residents of the village.
“Hristo Botev, a primary school, has a 143-year history, during which the Bulgarian spirit, identity and devotion to science and education have not died out! 143 years of dedication, inexhaustible energy and inspiration from teachers for whom the profession is a destiny, and a mission to help students who want to touch infinite fields of knowledge.
“Today we proudly note that from the classrooms of Hristo Botev school have graduated many successful, intelligent, talented, well-known creators of the Bulgarian culture, and respected and valued individuals in society.”
Acronis sees the world’s woes as mainly the result of insufficient knowledge. The company emphasizes the importance of making learning opportunities more readily available to everyone to equip them with the tools to help overcome present-day challenges. The company also recognizes education as a tool for changing one’s life or escaping difficult situations. With the help of books, Acronis believes we can equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate a volatile but prosperous future.
“Proper education prepares kids for both the trials and joys that life has to offer, and books are the main starting point for that education,” said Plamen Toshev, Managing director, Acronis Bulgaria. “These books equip our children with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate life and better understand the world. Even in an evolving digital landscape, reading books is a critical part of children’s development, helping them understand and learn about the world around them. I’m excited to see Acronis continue this tradition as we help shape the world into a better place for our children.”
Hristo Botev elementary school has rich history and is adorned with paintings donated by the Panevi brothers. Established in 1880, the school has proven itself as a worthy educational institution, helping raise a future generation of citizens equipped for the modern world. The school’s development strategies are based on the priorities in the field of Bulgarian education. These values include the formation of knowledgeable and active individuals as bearers of human virtues, the integration of students by making sense of their free time, health education, and inclusion in cultural and sports events.
This donation was made possible with the help of the popular Bulgarian bookstore, Ciela. This bookstore chain emphasizes the importance of cultural diversity, stocking a range of books across different languages and backgrounds. As the largest bookstore chain in Bulgaria, Ciela was able to provide Acronis with the necessary reading materials needed for the donation.
“Ciela bookstores are pleased to support the campaign of Acronis Bulgaria for the most Bulgarian holiday - May 24,” said Svetla Yovova, PR, Marketing and Advertising Manager at Ciela. “We hope that the good books that Hristo Botev Elementary School at Krepost village will receive will delight their teachers and students. We anticipate with them that reading will not be an obligation, but fun!”
