The company portfolio includes 10 highly technological, specialised hospitals with over 1000 beds and over 50 operating theatres combined, among which are robotic and hybrid surgery rooms, over a dozen out-patient medical centres, three GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)-certified pharmaceutical manufacturing plants, R&D labs, Class A clean rooms, automated warehousing and logistic solutions.

ACB Helvetia’s large scale projects commenced with the first production facility of Tchaikapharma: High Quality Medicines in Varna (opened in 2001), when the team became well aware of the limitations and hurdles in the design and construction process of such facilities. The very specific technological requirements and ever-evolving current GMP (cGMP) guidelines created a challenging yet stimulating environment for the architects to come up with smart space and interior solutions. The second manufacturing site of Tchaikapharma in Plovdiv, which opened in 2004, received the Building of the Year Award.

When ACB Helvetia accepted their first hospital design commission by the Bulgarian Cardiac Institute in 2006, the team adopted a holistic hands-on approach, which was further enhanced and sophisticated with each new addition to the hospital chain. While developed within the strict limits of the technical and functional requirements, the center of the design concept was the patient and their healing. Improving the patient experience while catering to the needs of the medical professionals and the therapeutic process was at the core of their work from the preliminary concept stage until the construction completion. The Heart and Brain Hospital in Pleven (Stage One) was rewarded with Building of the Year Award in 2017, and with the Architecton peer-review award in 2018.
