1,527 cars form longest parade of Ford cars

Bulgaria is officially the holder of a new Guinness World Record thanks to Ford aficionados who formed the longest parade of Ford cars in the world. In June, more than 2,300 vehicles gathered for a ride of 3.5 km on the northern section of Sofia's ring road.

Driving a new Ford Mustang, the four-time rally champion of Bulgaria Krum Donchev led the parade that featured lovingly preserved historical and classic models from the 1930s onwards. The 1960s Cobra and the iconic Mustang of the 1970s were among the crowd, as well as Ford Taunus, Probe, Mercury, Granada, Maverick, Cougar, Thunderbird, the powerful Explorer and the F-282 pickup truck. The 2017 model of the extravagant Mustang Shelby GT350 also took part in the parade. Martina Strong, Deputy Chief of Mission at the American Embassy in Sofia, and Phillip Pfohe, owner of Moto Pfohe, the official distributor of Ford for Bulgaria, were seen in attendance.

The Guinness officials recognised 1,527 cars as eligible. Even so, Bulgaria beat the previous record of the biggest gathering of Fords, set by 829 cars in the United States, in 2014.

The event included children's games, a performance by the rapper Ghettoman and a Ford history trivia quiz.
