When sisters Asya and Borislava Baneff learned the secrets of ceramic-making from their mother's professional practice, they acquired not only the craft's traditions, but also a passion and love for the pieces they create.
Two years ago, the sisters decided that it was time to bring this practice further and start a family tradition by entering the market themselves. The pieces they make under the brand Baneff Atelier are masterpieces of decorative art that adorn modern homes and bring quality, beauty and craft in everyday life.
To create their unique pieces, Asya and Borislava combine the ancient Japanese practice of Raku with diverse modern technologies and their own years of experience with glass-making, decorative art and pottery.
They constantly follow the current trends, yet they always stick to four core principles when creating their pieces. All Baneff creations are handmade, are baked at least 4 times at temperatures up to 1,200ºC, and are amazingly light, fine and elegant.
Baneff pieces stand out with their colours and the way they blend in one another, and the stunning finish of natural liquid gold on their rims, handles and decorations. A borrowing from the ancient Japanese practice of Raku, it is the final touch that achieves the perfect balance between modernity and tradition, of local and global, of exquisite and stunning.
