We talked with Dr Aleksieva to learn why preventive care is so important.
How do you win the trust of your little patients?
Via Dental Studio is a family-oriented practice. Most often, the children are the first to come, and then the whole family joins. Children are unbiased patients. When they feel that we are friendly and honest, and acknowledge their emotions, they trust us fully. Once we win their trust, we can do anything.
After over 20 years of practice, I already treat the children of the children I used to treat at the beginning of my career.
When is the best time for a child's first visit to Via Dental Studio?
Prophylaxis should start even before the pregnancy and should continue throughout it. Then the mother should visit us with the baby when they turn one year old or get their first tooth. During this visit we advice on how to take care of the child and create healthy habits like regular teeth cleaning and healthy eating to avoid a number of problems. With early prophylaxis and healthy habits we can prevent almost 100% of problems with teeth and bite. Unfortunately, parents seek help from us only when the child is already in pain and refuses to eat, and the gum is swollen.
How often should we take our kids to the dentist?
Every 6 months. At Via Dental Studio dental care means care for the whole body. During the examination we observe the children as individuals with their bad habits, diet, posture. Our goal is to achieve balance. Sometimes we refer them to other specialists, such as ENT, speech therapist, psychotherapist, occupational therapist or other. Starting from an early age we can prevent a lot. Children are very agile and easily change their bad habits.
Next year Via Dental Studio will expand. What new will be there?
The new Via Dental Studio will offer multidisciplinary treatment and holistic approach in different fields of dentistry and medicine aiming at early prophylaxis and diagnosis.
Patients want everything to be under one roof, to have adequate consultation and to not book their appointments with an established specialist 6 months in advance. This is also the goal of our special prophylactic packages valid for 1 year – to keep in patients' mind the idea for regular care.
Our goal is not to treat pathologies, but to prevent them. With proper diet, good hygiene and regular check ups both children and adults can be healthy.
