Flip is an innovative Romanian startup for pre-owned and serviced smartphones that stepped on the Bulgarian market this summer


The company allows customers to easily, securely, quickly and safely sell and buy used smart mobile devices. Ivaylo Netsov, General Manager of Flip for Bulgaria, tells more.

When was Flip founded, how many people work in it and what provoked the company to expand to Bulgaria?

Flip was founded 3 years ago by 3 visionaries – George, Alex and Alin, who wanted to make the Internet a friendly space for sellers and a more secure one for buyers of mobile phones. Each year, the startup doubled its financial results and in 2021 it became a part of eMAG Group. Over 150 people work in it now. Many of them are experts who check and analyse the phones before we put them up for sale. The platform is expanding quickly and enjoys high trust, with a 4.7/5 customer satisfaction rate. The logical next step was to expand geographically. Bulgaria is the first country where Flip is stepping.

What are your expectations for the expansion on the Bulgarian market?

To ensure that our services will be needed on this market as well, we did a special survey* among online consumers. Its conclusions define the leading trends and the clients' needs. According to its results, the Bulgarian online electronic devices market is very price sensitive, which forces consumers to seek available options for used devices. This, together with the fact that they are aware of the risks of buying a faulty or damaged device, the lack of warranty and the unreliable sellers when buying preowned electronics online, makes Flip a sought up answer to overcome these hurdles. The platform offers an opportunity for easy, fast and safe selling and buying used and serviced phones at prices up to 50% lower than new devices, with 24-month warranty, option for free return within 30 days and quick delivery in 1-2 days after the order. We offer professionally checked smartphones by leading brands, a variety of models and first-class customer experience.

What would you like to change in online commerce in Bulgaria by the end of 2022 in order to make your sales and processes easier?

I am positive that an increasing number of consumers will see the advantages of online shopping and will trust it. The industry, for its part, should work towards winning and keeping customers' trust. The key to success is to offer accessible, quality and safe services with full transparency, stepping on innovative technological solutions.
