Is it possible to take proper care of your skin and the environment? LUMIBEE skincare, a Bulgarian company, believes the answer is yes. Founders Boryana Kirchevska-Dragneva and Valentin Dragnev use pure bee products to create exquisite cosmetics that are both effective and increase the awareness of the importance of this little insect for the life on our planet. Here is how.

How and when did you decide to create Lumibee?

Valentin: It all began with our ever-growing desire to take an active part in building a more sustainable world for us and our children. As beekeeping has been a vocation for both our families, we naturally focused our attention on how to continue the tradition without being beekeepers ourselves. Thus, was born the idea of creating natural cosmetics inspired by Apitherapy – an ancient practice of using honeybee products to promote good health and support well-being in body and mind. LUMIBEE skincare is a small contribution to the world of bees, and brings together the essence of nature, science and luxury.

How does LUMIBEE skincare stand out?

Boryana: Using honey and other bee products in skincare isn't new. However, the science behind the skin repairing mechanisms is constantly evolving to provide better results. We are combining nature's most effective skin-healing substances – propolis, honey, royal jelly and beeswax – with biotechnology-derived ingredients to help combat signs of ageing, balance the skin's microbiome and reveal its youthfulness. Our products are suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. With its powerful healing properties, honey is a must-have ingredient in autumn and winter as the skin often feels tight and craves moisture. LUMIBEE active ingredient complexes fight the damage to the skin barrier caused by stress and environmental influences, and make your skin look young, firm and illuminated.

How does LUMIBEE skincare benefit people and bees?

V: We created LUMIBEE with the hope that we will bring attention to an indisputable truth: bees and nature can exist without us, we cannot exist without them. This is why the infinity bee is the symbol of LUMIBEE. It represents our promise to make a positive impact on the world around us and symbolizes our commitment to sustainability and the preservation of the environment.

B: As forests are the original home of the honeybee, for every order you purchase with us we will plant one tree. We use glass jars and bottles, coconut fibre instead of bubble wrap, and 100% recycled and recyclable shipping boxes. Our vision and goals are captured in the slogan "For your skin. For our Earth." These words are at the heart of LUMIBEE.
