Why did you decide to work in Bulgaria?
I want to thank Dr Georgi Stamenov and Nadezhda Hospital for trusting me and opening to me the road to return to Bulgaria 2.5 years ago. At the time I was working in Greece, but it was not my place. I arrived in Bulgaria in 1995. I have tried living in other countries, but I am the most happy here.
How did you manage to build such prestige among patients all over Bulgaria?
My secret is that I always put myself in the patient's shoes, that I am dedicated to my profession, I respect the patient and seek new treatment methods. I became an orthopedist because as a child I became a victim of an orthopedic medical error. I do not discriminate between patients with National Health Insurance coverage and ones who pay.
What makes you different?
I have trained under the best specialists in Bulgaria, Greece, Austria, Switzerland. My treatment methods are simple, easy, innovative and minimally invasive (PRP plasma cell therapy, sodium hyaluronate, cryoanalgesia, guna, ozone, stem cells and others). I chose independence from surgery hospitals so that I can work freely and I am not pressed to prescribe pointless and needless surgeries. When I say that a patient needs surgery, then there is really no other option. For me prophylaxis is the best treatment.
Scoliosis in a child
Dysplasia, flatfeet, and scoliosis are the most common problems in children. How can you help?
For dysplasia I need to examine the baby as soon after birth as possible (up to the 30th day), and parents have to follow my instructions. I should examine the child for flatfeet after it starts walking to see what is the reason for bad walk, to choose the right shoes without insoles, to recommend exercise. For scoliosis the examination should identify bad posture and should prescribe exercises, gymnastics and sport.
Where can patients find you?
I work at Nadezhda and Neoclinic hospitals. You can see how to make an appointment, more about me, helpful topics and more details on my webpage www.orthopedica.bg.
What are your future plans?
To discover innovative and more effective methods for diagnosis and treatment, and to publish my first book on how to raise and take care of babies after birth.
