Looking at the bigger picture, contributions from EU funds make up barely two or three percent of the budget, and I'm sure that the Bulgarian economy can get by without them. The structural funds are another example. Last year they reported that 200 million leva of funding was utilised. Filling a single pothole costs 30 leva. If this were true, here in Bulgaria we would all be driving our cars po med i maslo, or on honey and oil.
