RADKA CHAMOVA: DISCOVER THE POWER WITHIN

Radka Chamova is human resources and talent development manager with over 15 years of experience in international technological companies in Bulgaria, and a practising accredited coach by the ICF. In 2021, she became Chief People and Culture Officer at Despark, a digital products developer working for global clients, a part of the UK holding Paragon. In 2022 she was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of ICF Bulgaria. There, together with her colleagues, she volunteers to create a strong coaching community in Bulgaria.

Which of your qualities, in your opinion, makes you a successful coach?

The crucial factor that allows professional coaches to help their clients is the skill to step outside of their non-coaching expertise during the coaching session. When the coach is neutral, the coachee enters a gracious, safe environment of no judgement, no labels like right or wrong, stupid or smart.

Within this space, reaching out the important answers needed at a certain moment of their lives is much more sustainable, with commitment to forthcoming actions.

From day one of my coaching education I discovered that being a neutral support for someone is my authentic quality. I learned that coaching can equip me fully to help them transform their lives.

This is the essence of coaching. As a result, the coachee builds confidence that they are capable and have the power and expertise to achieve their own personal and professional success. I support people in unlocking their confidence and discovering their own purpose that speeds up their growth.

What is specific in working with individual clients?

Work with individuals has one fundament: the ability to self-reflect. My role is to be the coachee's mirror and together to build a self-reflection habit. It's like the habit of seeing your hair in the mirror and deciding whether you need a hairdresser or only to style your hair.

In a coaching session, the mirror shows not only the visible. It also listens beyond what is said and echoes it back to the coachee, thus creating a realistic reflection. When we face it, we can quickly realise which are the hurdles, opportunities or limiting beliefs which are holding us back from getting the best of ourselves. Everyone has the potential to be where they are ready to be. With coaching support they can make the big steps more confidently and in less time. And by having a self-reflection habit we can build our self-awareness to a stage that can serve our personal satisfaction life-long.

What about corporate ones?

The inevitable first step is to make sure the team knows the common business direction, sees the mission being fulfilled, and understands the company's vision. This is important to turn a group of people into a team with a shared business goal.

By providing support to companies in reflecting on their objectives and avenues for improvement, I help them create an environment that enables team members to master their expertise. This becomes a vital ingredient for their continuous development and growth.

My passion is creating a company environment where people can outperform themselves by using their own unique motivation as fuel, because they are the actual driving force.
