WHERE IN BULGARIA ARE YOU?
There is no chance anyone has crossed this pontoon bridge on their own volition.
It leads to an island in the Danube, which during Communism was a political prisoners' camp.
Today a part of it is still a prison facility. Gates are opened to the public only once a year, for an annual commemoration for the victims of Communism.
The island is also a nature park for its wetlands wildlife. It is a stone's throw from that Bulgarian town where a second nuclear power plant will or will not be erected.
