From children crumbling under peer or parent pressure to adults struggling to cope with stress, personal loss or unresolved trauma: everyone needs psychological help at a certain point in their lives

You help both confused teenagers and adults who have lost their way. What is common between the confused young person and the confused adult?
We have all been children. Yet when we grow up do we forget what had bothered and stressed us. We forget the feeling that adults get in our way, that we can manage without them. Thаt school, domestic chores and other responsibilities only block our desire to love and to be loved unconditionally. A utopia in reality that can deeply confuse a young person. On the other hand, the adult does everything possible to protect and explain to the young one that they are living through a very special period in life, that all their emotions are because of a chemical explosion of hormones.
What a whirlwind! First adults go through this stage themselves and when they grow up and try to help the young people, they have already forgotten the stormy feelings, the tears, the unrequited loves that tear the fragile young hearts.
The confusion comes from the fact that teens distrust adults and their experience. They see them as old-fashioned. Meanwhile, the adults wonder what went wrong.
Of course, family environment also matters. Sometimes we are forced to grow up faster but the bitterness from that stays with us for the rest of our lives. Many things can support a young person at this stage of life, such as a calm, secure, understanding family. The opposite is also true. Opiates, alcohol and drug abuse and a criminal environment can push a teenager into self-destruction mode. An adult can also sometimes act spontaneously or unreasonably but unlike the younger person they will be aware of the consequences. So the common ground is childhood and the teenage years. The difference is experience.
Which psychological schools and methods do you use in your practice?
Psychology is a vast field. It develops and lives in every case and problem depending on our ability to cope adequately with our own lives. It is not an easy process to keep searching for effective ways to help ourselves and our loved ones.
In my practice I use several methods but I constantly develop and enrich them depending on the cases. Cognitive therapy is my main tool as it gives me information about how someone perceives what is happening to them. Gestalt helps me choose the right approach. Jung and his in-depth understanding of the unconscious help me reveal old wounds that can become hidden rocks in an otherwise calm sea.
Still, each case is unique and special because of the different experiences we have as humans.
What is the most important thing you try to give to your clients?
Knowing that life can sometimes be unpredictable, confusing and disappointing is a great advantage. We build and develop ourselves thanks to the challenges we experience. We cannot avoid them, because they help us grow. Yet, we can live through them more easily if we choose not to sink into our own weaknesses.
