Established in 2012, Kunchev Studio redefines youth and ambition in architecture design
The studio's core principles can all be seen materialised in their projects: honesty, purity, simplicity, unity of goal and function.
To achieve this, Kunchev Studio combines creativity and vision with a strict practical approach. It applies an entirely integrated BIM (building information model) intelligent design process to detect possible mistakes as early as the early design stage and to significantly shorten the deadlines. The flexible layout structure allows to unite and divide spaces when the investor wants it. The studio has integrated VR in the presentations of their architectural solutions in order to give clients an experience as close to reality as possible. In the buildings it designs Kunchev Studio always aims at improved energy efficiency with thicker quality insulation, thermal pumps, solar panels etc. The studio is a stickler for author's supervision to minimise mistakes during construction and to solve problems timely.
HOUSE KINOTSENTARA II
A single-family house in Dragalevtsi, Sofia, on a northeast-facing slope, with two floors and a ground floor. The owners wanted a yard as big as possible and a house with a vista to the Vitosha mountain, to the south. This was achieved with a heavily glazed south façade. The rest of the walls are more "closed" and act as an encasing.
The eave is the project's centrepiece: it accentuates the house's silhouette and, together with inbuilt blinds, protects its inside from the sun. The roof is single-sloped as heavy snow is typical for the area. The general architectural layout relies on clear lines and shapes diversified with alternating façade materials and wood boarding that brings in a feel of warmth.
HOUSE KINOTSENTARA I
A single-family house in Dragalevtsi, Sofia, on a northeast-facing slope.
It intertwines two volumes: a single and a two-floor one. The spacious veranda provides vistas to the Vitosha. The wood on the façade accentuates the feel of cosiness and contact with nature. The window frames continue the idea for clear spaces and lines that are intelligently designed with attention to detail. The small pool is covered in the cold months.
HOUSE BANKIA II
A single-family house in Bankya with an unorthodox design born by the combination of two words: castle and iceberg. Inspired by this expression, the volumes alternate gentle curves with sharp definitive lines.
Wood panelling softens the bold expressionism. A fireplace that joins the roof defines the hearth of the house. The second floor has an atrium space with a gallery, underlined from the outside with a suspended façade. The large windows let in a lot of light. At the ground level, sliding windows unite the indoor and the outdoor space.
Special attention was paid to the garden's landscaping and pavement with picturesque lines corresponding to the house architecture. A boutique vegetable patch was also designed, to bring not only beauty, but also clean food. There is a dedicated office space in the house, an ideal place for work from home.
