Founded in 1948 as a medical facility for government officials and diplomats, today is open to everyone who needs quality treatment
Its new director, Dr Hristo Stoyanov, shares more about the hospital's traditions and the latest news.
What makes Lozenetz Hospital like no other in Bulgaria?
We are proud that continuity in our hospital is alive thanks to the efforts and the upgrading of the invaluable experience of generations of doctors, nurses and other professionals. We have also always been a standard for quality services and care for the patient.
Our location is unparalleled. The hospital spreads over 180 ha in Sofia's South Park, surrounded by clean air, tranquillity, rich greenery and bird songs. The building was designed according to the leading international standards. All rooms are modernly equipped and spacious, with their own bathrooms and patient monitors. The VIP zone offers luxury conditions, including options for business meetings. We also have a top class sports compound.
What are your goals as director of Lozenetz Hospital?
The ambition of Lozenetz Hospital's management is to make it attractive to patients from all over Bulgaria through quality, care and latest generation equipment and technologies. In 2022, we took concrete measures to open the hospital for all patients.
Our website was among the winners of the Website of the Year competition. We organise a lot of campaigns for prophylaxis and prevention of diseases such as diabetes and breast, colon and prostate cancer. The Open Door Days in our Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic enjoyed significant interest.
We opened the first in Bulgaria centre for prevention and treatment of colon cancer based on the established German screening programme. In 2023, we will also open a pancreatitis centre for highly specialised surgery treatment and a metabolic centre that focuses on interdisciplinary approach. The centres are managed by Bulgarian specialists with international experience. We will continue the policy to attract established professionals in 2023 as well.
