Architect Ivan Zhivkov, founder, has gathered a team that is equally good in creating residential and public interiors
When architect Ivan Zhivkov created NODE Studio, in 2019, he had a clear idea of what he would strive for in his practice: to provide client-centred, flexible solutions. In pursuing this task, he and his team do not shy away from taking innovative, often bold decisions. This brave approach has paid out: today NODE Studio has an ever expanding portfolio of elegant, diverse and impressive residential and public interiors that are both modern and timeless.
What is the main creative task that you set for yourself, as an architect, when you start working on a project?
It is hard to tell what the main creative task is. But we believe that nothing is impossible. This is why we always strive to gather all the important components, such as function, style, and clients' requirements and needs, to create a design with unique style and vision and, by doing this, to go beyond the clients', and even our own, expectations. By getting to know the clients better, we create friendships, which empowers us to understand their dreams and make it reality though the design project.
Node has created both residential and public interiors. What is the main difference between these two types of projects?
The core difference is in the approach and the needs of the space and the people who are going to use it. Everything else is a combination of the components that all interiors need: creating a design with a unique vision and identity that has to be both modern and timeless.
One of your goals is to create bold, outstanding solutions to each interior and architectural task. What is the biggest challenge that you have faced when solving this creative task?
It is very hard to single out the biggest challenge that we have faced, because architects and designers should have broad knowledge and skills in many fields such as functional planning, interior styles, detailed modelling, understanding of light and colour, behavioural psychology, good communication, analytical skills, knowledge of the different materials, and, if possible, top presentation skills.
When an architect and a designer have mastered the said skills and knowledge, they would be capable of dealing with any challenge. Honestly, the greatest challenge for us was to gather partners who are as brave as we are and who are capable of realising our clients' dream residential or public projects.
