PLOVDIV TECH PARK: TECHNOLOGICAL EDUCATION WITH A VISION OF THE FUTURE
The educational complex of Plovdiv Tech Park offers opportunities for training and upgrading the skills and qualifications in the field of high-technology and professions of the future
Venelin Yordanov is the Executive Director of Plovdiv Tech Park JSC, manager of the Plovdiv Professional Private European College of Innovative Technologies, and a lecturer in Entrepreneurship. He is a contributor to the Mahatma Gandhi International Higher School of Informatics and e-Leadership project, on which he is talking in this Vagabond interview.
What joins together the different units of Plovdiv Tech Park?
The educational scientific and technological complex is being developed as an operating high school, a college, a summer school, and laboratories for blockchain technology, audiovisual technology, ultra-fast computing for teaching purposes, etc. We have established an Informatics and Innovation Technology Institute (IIIT), at which we attracted 6 professors and 8 associate professors from Plovdiv and Sofia. The thing that unites the educational units in Plovdiv Tech Park is the professionalism of our team, and our main motivation is the ambition to develop and realise such a structure in Plovdiv. The common direction is innovative technology development and alignment with global standards and trends.
What is the mission of Academician Blagovest Sendov High School and the Innovative Technology College?
Academician Blagovest Sendov High School of Informatics and Computer Science was created with hard work, ambition, and love for science, for the new, the different, but most of all for children. Our strategic goals are related to increasing the quality and efficiency of the educational process through a person-centered approach and stimulating students’ development, creative talents, and potential with the relevant technological provisions.
The workplace of the future requires more and more computer skills that need to be constantly upgraded. The College of Innovative Technology has new art specialties such as Film Editing, Directing, Computer Animation, and we see quite a strong interest in them.
What inspired you to start a higher school project?
The founders’ motives are related both to the scientific support for Bulgarian business and its internationalisation, mainly with one of the world leaders – India. The core thing we are striving for is the internationalisation of Bulgarian education. We want and we are able to provide a good preparation to our students in areas such as robotics, informatics, etc., in which we are competitive.
For the first time in Bulgaria, we offer a new Master's degree in the highly promising specialty of e-Leadership. Combined with the Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI), which will be integrated with Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), etc., they shape the innovative outlook of the degree programmes on offer. We look forward to the decision to be accredited and to open the Mahatma Gandhi International Higher School of Informatics and e-Leadership.
