Sofia's German Christmas Market appeared in 2011 thanks to the initiative of DB Events, a team of professionals who recognised the potential of introducing authentic German cultural traditions to Bulgaria. The idea was simple yet effective: bringing in the heart of Sofia one of Germany's most beloved traditions – Christmas markets.
Dedication to authenticity is a defining feature for the initiative of DB Events. One of the most charming features of the German Christmas Market in Sofia are the traditional German smoking houses and figurines, known as Räucherhäuser and Räuchermännchen. These beautifully crafted items are a staple of German Christmas tradition and bring a cozy, festive atmosphere with their fragrant incense.
In 2024, DB Events helped another town to experience the beauty and charm of authentic German Christmas markets – in Sevlievo.
After the success of the German Christmas Market, DB Events made a logical step forward – in 2017 it introduced the Oktoberfest Sofia. These events also became annual.
Everything organised by DB Events is defined by attention to detail and pursuit of authenticity, ensuring that visitors enjoy the true taste of Germany. The company imports directly from Germany beer, original Thuringian rostbratwurst, and a variety of German sweets and desserts.
DB Events goes beyond just offering entertainment through their events, seeking to foster understanding and friendship between Bulgaria and Germany. They are committed to delivering high-quality experiences that demonstrate the success of cultural exchange, proving that it is not only achievable but also highly rewarding.
