Aprime Studio is a practice that is equally good in creating flawless architecture and comfortable interiors. Houses, residential buildings, commercial spaces or industrial sites: nothing is impossible for the studio's team. Its founder, architect Bogdan Bekov, shares how he has achieved this.

Aprime's portfolio of successfully finished projects is incredibly diverse. How are you capable of providing consistently high quality in each of them?

With doing it with pleasure, of course! Our philosophy is directed towards seeking top quality in each of our projects. We do not compromise with this. Each new project makes me euphoric. I am always eager to start working on it. I even often start working before we have sealed the deal.

My biggest fear is to fall into the routine of repetition and to start making copy-paste projects.

All of these factors are the reason for our results.

Which current trends in interior design fit your creative nature best?

Trends in interior design are an opportunity for creative expression, but they are also a challenge, particularly when in larger projects such as big houses that require more time to design and build. This is why I am so amused by questions like "Do you use the colour of the year?". Indeed, such trends can add freshness and topicality to design, but they can also make the whole space look old-fashioned too fast.

I have always believed that a good project will look well both now and ten years from now.

However, a trend that I find exceptionally helpful is the implementation of intelligent technologies in homes. They make the overall ambiance more modern and create a sustainable and intelligent living space providing the future inhabitants with significant advantages.

What is the strongest side of Aprime Studio?

I have always maintained that architecture and interior design should be done together. My practice in all spheres of design is a big advantage for me as it allows me to find opportunities to learn and get inspired in each of these fields.

Each project – interior design, residential building architectural planning, a house or even an industrial site, – always enriches the palette that we are going to use in future projects. This approach allowed me to learn things that have been incredibly useful in my work.

It is not a secret that sometimes interior designers should use their creativity to "save" a space that was not properly designed in the first place.

My experience has taught me that careful research of the desires and needs of the clients is crucial. Thus, when we design residential buildings, we integrate this knowledge in the architectural project to create something that needs no "saving," only an elegant design.

Besides this, my experience in the field of lighting design adds additional depth to our work. The capability of playing with light additionally underlines and enriches the appearance of each of our projects.

What is your favourite part in the process of interior creation?

Of course, the creative part. The process of creative design for me is one of the most exciting and meaningful parts of my profession. My favourite part is in the very beginning – the moment when I am the "white board," free to express my ideas and inspiration.

Despite my rich experience and project portfolio, with each new challenge I feel a rush of freshness and energy that inspires me to seek new and different solutions. For me, the magic often happens as early as during the site inspection: the idea starts to take shape, I only have to give it a form in order to turn it into a reality.

However, I do not underestimate the technical phase. On the contrary. It is where our experience and skills turn our ideas into a reality. We aim our project documentation to be so well filled that in reality during the site's construction no one calls to ask us questions.
