Georgi Papucharov is an entrepreneur and founder of Sirius Software, a company that has been helping businesses use technology more intelligently and effectively for 15 years. Over the years, he has built a team of more than 40 specialists and developed the company from web and software development into comprehensive digital solutions, automation and artificial intelligence. Today, his main focus is on how AI can move from being a hot topic to a real tool for growth and competitive advantage.

Fifteen years in such a dynamic field as software, web and IT solutions is a long time. What lies behind Sirius Software's success?

I think the most important thing is that we have never treated technology as an end in itself. From the very beginning, our aim has been to understand the client's business and build solutions that genuinely help them work better, sell more, or save time and resources.

Technology has changed many times over the past 15 years, from the way web systems are developed to cloud infrastructure and automation, and now the AI wave. If a software company wants to remain relevant for that long, it has to keep learning and adapting without losing sight of the fundamentals: quality, security, predictability and fairness to the client.

Trust is also an important part of this. We have clients we have worked with for many years because we try to be honest about what is worth developing and what is not. Sometimes the right advice is to use an off-the-shelf product. In other cases, ready-made software limits the business, making an investment in a bespoke system far more worthwhile. A sustainable business is built when the interests of the client and the technology partner are aligned.

Today, Sirius Software has a team of more than 40 people and works on complex digital platforms, ERP and CRM systems, e-commerce, integrations and AI solutions. An important milestone was achieving ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification. We are currently implementing the requirements of ISO/IEC 42001:2023 and preparing for certification, as a natural continuation of our focus on security, data management and the responsible use of AI.

How did you find and build a team of professionals capable of delivering the best for your clients?

A team is not built with one good job advert. It takes years. Many people at our company have grown within the organisation, which has allowed us to develop a shared way of thinking and high standards of work.

We look for more than technical knowledge. For me, a good specialist needs to understand why a client wants a particular functionality, ask the right questions and sometimes suggest a better option than the one originally requested. That is the difference between a contractor and a technology partner.

We make an effort to share experience across the team and have clear processes for development, testing and security, while also giving people the freedom to propose solutions. This is particularly important now that AI is changing the role of the software specialist: value lies less and less in writing code itself and increasingly in defining the problem correctly and designing the right solution architecture.

What is the most important thing a company needs to know before taking the step towards introducing AI into its work, and how can you help with this transformation?

The most important thing is not to start with the question "Where can we put AI?" but with "Where are we losing the most time, money or opportunities?" AI makes sense when it solves a specific problem.

We usually start with processes: which tasks are repetitive, where people process large amounts of documents or information, where the same reports are produced repeatedly, where communication is slow, or where decisions depend on data scattered across different systems. We then assess what can be automated and what the real impact would be. We prefer a limited pilot with clearly defined ways of measuring the results in advance: time saved, fewer errors, faster service or more opportunities converted.

The other key issue is data and security. Not all information should simply be sent to a public AI model. That is why architecture, access rights, logs, controls and human approval for critical actions are built into the project from the outset.

What are the main AI-based solutions and services you offer?

We work in several areas. We integrate AI agents into existing ERP, CRM and internal systems; build corporate chat assistants that work with a company's own documents and knowledge; automate the processing of emails, enquiries, quotations, contracts and other documents; and create AI agents that can carry out sequences of tasks and interact with different systems.

We can connect AI to a client's existing software rather than requiring them to replace everything. For companies that do not yet know where to start, we can conduct an AI assessment and create a roadmap with specific applications, priorities and expected impact. Where needed, we can also act as an external, fractional AI leader, helping management select and oversee its AI initiatives.

When does a company simply need to integrate Copilot, and when does it need its own AI agent?

Copilot is a very good choice when the aim is to help individual employees work faster: summarising documents, preparing text, presentations and analyses, or finding information. This is AI that assists people.

A dedicated AI agent is needed when we want the system not just to provide an answer, but to do the work. For example, it could read an incoming enquiry, check the customer in the CRM, find the necessary data in the ERP, prepare a quotation, send it for approval and then create a follow-up task.

The distinction is fairly simple: if AI is simply helping a person within one application, a standard Copilot is often sufficient. If it needs to understand the company's specific processes, work across several systems and perform actions according to defined rules, we are talking about a dedicated AI agent or the orchestration of multiple agents.

In both cases, the goal is not to implement as much AI as possible. It is to identify where the technology delivers measurable value and frees people to focus on the work they do best.

Sirius Software?
